BTS TOLEDO WRESTLING

Due to financial difficulties, wrestling is one of the sports recently
cut from Toledo Public Schools, leaving young wrestlers with no
opportunities to participate in their sport.  This is expected to create
a very high demand for our program. If you would like to sign-up,
donate, volunteer, or would just like more information, please contact
Matt Moos at
MattMoos@BeatTheStreetsToledo.org or 419-244-8955.

We are starting the week of March 20th, meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Be sure to sign-up today.

Head Wrestling Coach for Beat the Streets Toledo is Mark Moos.
A native of Lorain, Ohio, Mark Moos was two-time state champion at
wrestling powerhouse St. Edward High School, winning the 112-pound title in his junior season and the 119-pound crown as a senior. He helped the Eagles capture four straight Ohio state team trophies during his tenure
and exhibited similar success on the national scene with a 2002 National
High School championship and 2001 Junior National freesyle crown.
Mark made Ohio wrestling history in 1998 becoming the first Ohio
wrestler to win National Titles in both Greco Roman and Freestyle at the
Cadet National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota. In high school,
Mark placed 4th at the World Team Trials, was named 2x Asics
All-American, selected for USA's Dream Team, Cliff Keen Dream Team and
named number one recruit in the USA for the sport of wrestling in 2002.

With Mark's excellent success on the mat and in the classroom, he earned
a full scholarship to University of Michigan. As a wolverine he was a
4-year letter winner, volunteered at U of M's Mott Children's
Hospital, Big Ten Conference placewinner, National Qualifier, and held
the number 1 ranking in the nation for his weight class in multiple
seasons. In his career, he captured many key victories including a pin
over 2x NCAA Champion, Jeff Prescott, and a decision over current U.S
Word Team member and Olympic hopeful, Reece Humphrey, a graduate of The Ohio State University and NCAA Runner-Up. Mark has been involved in youth wrestling since he was in high school. He started out as a volunteer with youth programs and has since coached the Ohio National Team, taken an All-Star Team of at-risk youth to the Disney Duals, Coached at the High School Varsity Programs at Lorain Southview and now is serving as Assistant Coach at Lakewood St. Edward where he ran the infamous Eagle Club Program this past offseason.

Mark is experienced in helping students to become successful both on and off the mat. To date, he has coached 30 State Champions and 8 National Champions, something many coaches spend years, even their entire career, without the opportunity to have even one State Qualifier. In the 2011-2012 Season, Mark's St. Ed's Team blew out the competition at the State Tournament capturing another team Championship and finished the season 2nd in the USA behind Blair Academy after suffering a controversial dual meet loss. Mark is also certified in First Aid and CPR.

"More enduringly than any other sport, wrestling teaches self-control and pride. Some have wrestled without great skill - none have wrestled without pride.” 1972 Olympic Wrestling Gold Medalist- Dan Gable

"I'm a huge wrestling fan. Wrestlers have so many great qualities that athletes need to have." Bob Stoops-Oklahoma Sooners Head Football Coach

"As a kid who was born in South Central Los Angeles to undocumented parents and raised in a low-income neighborhood in Phoenix, AZ, I am a living example of a Beat the Streets wrestler. I was lucky that I found wrestling, thanks to the great work of organizations like Beat the Streets, and I am glad to support children from similar backgrounds as mine to achieve their American dream." Henry Cejudo — 2008 Olympic Wrestling Gold Medalist

"I would have all of my offensive linemen wrestle if I could."John Madden-NFL Hall of Fame
